Civil/Structural Engineer

The NAHB Research Center, the premier source of technical research on housing technologies, products and issues, is looking for a civil/structural engineer for our Applied Engineering Division.

We are searching for the right person to provide senior project managers with support on structural and material performance projects with focus on residential buildings.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct analytical and experimental research related to residential construction with focus on structural applications.
  • Conduct evaluation of innovative products and systems for compliance with building codes
  • Prepare deliverables for clients including detailed test and research reports.
  • Prepare test plans, provide coordination between senior project engineers and test laboratory staff
  • Participate in the building codes/standards development process

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science - Civil/Structural Engineering (PE is a plus, MS is a plus)
  • Two to five years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of structural engineering, material properties, testing, building codes
  • Outstanding written and oral skills commensurate for client briefings and report preparation
  • Construction experience a plus
